USB-C rechargeable battery pack for Wii remotes
This was a challenge to get as large a battery as possible to fit within the small confines of the Wiimote battery compartment. I iterated over 10 times on the CAD design of the frame to achieve a working design. This is by far the most traction I have gotten on a project I've made, with over 16,000 views on YouTube and people still asking me if they're for sale years after I stopped selling them.Â
My initial prototype used hot glue and cutting a sideways slot for the charger board. I posted this on Reddit and got a lot of traction and interest in buying, which prompted me to pursue selling it. I worked quickly to capitalize on the attention, and it took me only a week to iterate on the design and source parts to list the first few units for sale.
